5/5/2020 0 Comments Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand - International Law and the Murder of DissidentsCambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand - International Law and the Murder of DissidentsCambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand are the major geopolitical flash points. It is also the oldest and the largest nation in Southeast Asia. Recently, these four nations have been on the world map of social and economic stability for several years.
Cambodia is a relatively large country of small land mass. As of today, the land area of Cambodia is larger than Austria. Cambodia has over one million square kilometers of land area. For comparison, America has only about 2.2 million square kilometers of land area. Cambodia has more than two hundred and fifty thousand kilometers of coastline. The tripartite East Timor, the Goldstone Report, the Clinton-Gupta Hypothesis and the East Timor Treaty were all used by the Cambodian government as grounds for creating a genocide. In each case, there is now a theory regarding the genesis of the genocide. According to this theory, the 'race card' was played to cast blame on the population, and that the genocide was carried out by the Burmese Army. There is no evidence to support this theory. However, this theory is now in the minority. According to the theory, the Burmese Army was guilty of atrocities against the Khmer Rouge. The theory has merit, since the Khmer Rouge committed widespread atrocities as part of their revolution. During the revolution, the Khmer Rouge terrorized the populace. They tortured and killed numerous civilians in Phnom Penh and even dumped them out in the countryside for execution. Since the Khmer Rouge was violent and criminal, many people believed the allegations. They were not able to distinguish between the truth and the lies. When the Khmer Rouge revolution was quashed, most of the population fled to the capital, Phnom Penh. Thus, some individuals believed that there were no executions, and that the population was safe and secure. The Burmese Army never attacked the capital city and the capital did not fall. There is no indication that the government of Cambodia has any idea of the truth. That is why it is important to learn about the genocide in Cambodia. Because this happened long ago, the truth about this will not be discovered until someone commits a crime. One thing is certain: the Cambodian genocide was a monstrous crime. In this case, international law does not exist. The International Criminal Court is a figment of the imagination of the international community. It is illogical and unfair to give law to the 'international community.' If international law exists, then the United Nations is a figment of the imagination, too.
